Well done Bree Sambell – Life Live It! – Occupational Therapy
Winner of the FitBit in the September / October Competition
“There is both a remarkable young woman- Turia Pitt and an acronym FREDDO that helps inspire and motivate me to keep fit and be healthy.
I have followed Turia Pitts story- a young lady who obtained burns to 65% of her body when competing in an ultra-marathon a few years ago. I have recently finished her book “Everything to Live For” and was encouraged by her story. Turia’s determination, hard work and strive to better herself has really struck a chord with me. It made me realise I should not take things for granted which has motivated me to make changes in my own life. These changes have been bought about using the acronym ‘FREDDO’.
Fun: Bringing an element of fun to everything I do helps to lighten the load. Whether it’s having a joke with a client at work or trying a new restaurant with my friends- laughter really is the best medicine.
Relaxation: Nothing beats a scented candle and a bubble bath to let my mind wander and process my thoughts.
Exercise: Is a critical part of ensuring good health, particularly since I was diagnosed with arthritis. Tennis, table tennis and walking through Star Swamp Bushland Reserve are a few of my favourite ways to keep fit.

Diet: ‘Everything in moderation’ ensures I can maintain a sustainable diet but also satisfy my sweet tooth.
Daily: After a busy day, I often find my motivation can be lacking. By ensuring I make the effort to do something small each day to benefit my physical and mental health, I know I will feel better in the long run.
Organisation: I feel a lot more motivated and focused to do my best when I am organised. Knowing I have planned dinner, scheduled time to play tennis and completed everything on my “To Do List” at work helps reduce unnecessary worry.”
