Roho Training

At Unicare Health we believe our level of knowledge and expertise when recommending equipment is important to our customers’ quality of life. As a result we offer numerous education sessions to therapists, nurses and other care staff.

All too often in the healthcare industry, the use of Roho cushions is regarded with uncertainty and doubt. This is can be an issue for patients requiring pressure relief when nursing staff are unfamiliar with the cushion and no therapists are available to set up the product. This can result in the patient being left in bed for an extended period of time, such as over the weekend, when they may benefit from sitting up on a cushion for part of the day.

A Roho cushion is especially designed to disperse pressure, provide lateral stability and seat the user comfortably. Cells are interconnected and their unique shape promotes blood circulation, facilitating pressure prevention, relief and healing.

Paul Vogas, one of our Business Development Managers, recently conducted four training sessions at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital on the set up and use of Roho cushions. He commented, “My main aim when providing training to nurses is to dispel the myth that setting up a Roho is difficult and risky. I usually take a few cushions with me and get the staff to pair up and set the cushion up for each other. This is usually done with much laughter and increasing confidence.”

At the conclusion of the training session, the nurses all agreed they felt much more confident using a Roho cushion without the need of waiting for a therapist.
