A: If the label on any sling is not legible, the sling no longer complies with Australian Standards and therefore should not be used. Being unable to read a label on a sling means you can no longer deem that it is the correct sling for the hoist or functional ability of your client and you are unaware of the Safe Working Load of the sling. If the label is worn, this may also indicate other parts of the sling are also worn and have become unsafe.
Note: This also applies if your sling is missing it’s Identification Label
