Can I put four wheels on my walking frame?

A: Unicare Health does not supply or recommend walking frames fitted with four castors or wheels due to the high risk involved. Walking frames do not have braking systems and therefore require two nylon “glides” or “skis” on the back legs to prevent the frame from wheeling away unexpectedly.

If four wheels are required, we would recommend a Seat Walker which are always fitted with hand brakes, or the use of a ‘push down brake’ accessory sold by Unicare to suit our Folding Walking Frames (see picture opposite).
